ALBERT VAN LOON
Albert van Loon (1973) is a versatile Dutch artist. He switches between different
painterly styles, between assignment and free art and also between paintings, illustrations
and cartoons. Both style and material are inferior to the idea.
An emotion, an experience, a desire, a shape, a location, a person... anything that leaves
an impression can lead to a new painting. Expressive or realistic, figurative or abstract:
every style is allowed as long as it serves the idea.
Living in a 'zap-culture' Albert deliberately 'zaps' between styles. He is not questing
to find 'his own definite style'.
However there is also a general trend in his work. For example he prefers acrylic paint,
because of its fast drying time. At the same time aspects like strong contrasts, rhythm and
a graphic style of painting are running as a leading thread through his art.
